As a kid and later on as an adult when I would think of apple cider vinegar, “isn’t that what you put on salad?”. Since becoming a part of the Health and Fitness world I have learned about many products that are actually good for your (go figure). This brings us to our current topic. I know for myself and Elisa we may miss a day or two, but we are able to get our “Mom Shot” of apple cider vinegar in, in the morning. There is no way we would drink that stuff straight up (not like our club days…did someone say Jaeger Bombs!!!), so we mix 1-2 tablespoons of it with Himalayan salt, 4oz of cold water, and on occasion lime (Bottoms Up!!!). Once finished, we usually drink a cup of water if you choose. I find it helps to keep you from smelling like a salad…..LOL.
Here are just two of the benefits that have worked for me……..
Heartburn
After dealing with heartburn a few months back, I decided to incorporate apple cider vinegar into my morning routine. My heartburn issue was more during the night when I slept. Depending on what I was eating would determine the amount of “throat fire” that I would experience while sleeping, which would ultimately wake me out of a sound sleep. “Apple cider vinegar pH balancing abilities, as well as its vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients make it a fast and effective natural treatment for GERD and acid reflux”,(Apple Cider Vinegar Treatment for Acid Reflux, 2018). Once I started the daily apple cider vinegar “Mom Shot”, my heartburn went away. This was a saving grace because it was really pissing me off that I wasn’t getting enough sleep during the night. Grrrr…grumpy pants
Relief of a sore throat
When it comes to being sick, I am “that person” who will suffer until I cannot take it anymore. Not too long ago I was really sick. I started out with laryngitis and ended up with bronchitis. During this time, my throat was on fire; it really felt like I was swallowing razor blades. Not to mention I was not able to speak or even swallow. I was told to gargle salt water, but also try apple cider vinegar. “The bacteria in the throat causing pain does not like the strong acid content of apple cider vinegar, which means they will die off in a hurry when you gargle with this” (Top 18 Health Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar, 2018). And by damn, this worked……Go figure!
I normally use Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar; however, we went to Costco and purchased Vermont Village Apple Cider Vinegar Raw & Organic. Both brands are great. I included links to these websites below.
The list of benefits of ACV go on and on. These are just a few that I’ve used them for. Needless to say you can’t go wrong with storing a bottle of this in your home. The next time you google a home remedy that calls for this, you will be grateful to have it readily available.
